The U.S. Army Fitness Test (AFT)—which replaced the older ACFT and APFT—is the official five-event physical assessment used to measure combat readiness and physical endurance. To pass, soldiers must achieve a minimum score based on their specific military branch path. Non-combat roles require a minimum total score of 300 points (with at least 60 points per event graded by age and gender), while combat roles require a sex-neutral minimum total score of 350 points. The visual layout below highlights the core testing events: The 5 Core AFT Events & Baseline Standards

To pass, you must meet or exceed the 60-point baseline for your category in every single event:

3-Repetition Maximum Deadlift (MDL): Tests lower-body strength. You must lift a hex bar three times. The 60-point minimum is 120 lbs for non-combat females and 150 lbs for all males and combat-role females.

Hand-Release Push-Up (HRP): Measures upper-body muscular endurance over two minutes. The baseline requires 11 reps for non-combat females and 15 reps for combat roles and all males.

Sprint-Drag-Carry (SDC): A 250-meter shuttle test involving sprinting, dragging a 90-lb sled, lateral shuffling, and carrying two 40-lb kettlebells. The passing time is 3:15 or faster for non-combat females and 2:28 or faster for combat roles and all males.

Plank Hold (PLK): Evaluates core strength and stability. The minimum standard is a 1 minute and 30 seconds hold across all age and gender categories.

Two-Mile Run (2MR): Evaluates aerobic endurance. The 60-point passing time limit is 22:55 for non-combat females and 19:57 for combat-role females and all males. Scoring Requirements By Track Category Track Event Minimum Total Passing Score Standard Type Combat Roles (MOS) 60 Points / Event 350 Points Minimum Sex-Neutral (Same for Men & Women) Non-Combat Roles (MOS) 60 Points / Event 300 Points Minimum Adjusted by Age & Gender Body Composition Exceptions

The Army also enforces strict height, weight, and body-fat standards. However, if you excel at the fitness test and score 540 points or higher—with at least 80 points achieved in every single event—you are completely exempt from the body-fat assessment.
